Our Children are No Longer Safe Anymore - Nurin Jazlin Jazimin Tragedy

  • KUALA LUMPUR: Police believe Nurul Jazlin Jazimin's murderer is hiding in the Klang Valley following the massive media coverage of the incident.

Sources disclosed that the suspect was probably fearful at the moment as he is being hunted not only by the police but by the public as well, following mass condemnation of Nurin's murder.
Nurin, 8, was abducted, beaten and had a cucumber and a brinjal forced into her private parts. She died of an infection after her intestines ruptured.

  • PETALING JAYA: The hunt for the perpetrator who committed the violent sexual acts on Nurin Jazlin Jazimin should not end with the capture and conviction of the murderer.

Women, Family and Community Development Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said equal emphasis should be given to study the root cause of the problem.
"While it is important that we find who did this, the people must not forget that we should also get down to what triggered such deviant acts."

  • PUTRAJAYA: It's a sign of how evil the times have become that parents now fear to let their children play outside.

The prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah, in making this observation, called on parents to love their children dearly because there was no telling what could happen next.
Jeanne, in her first press conference since marrying Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, called on parents to treasure their children and to pray that crimes against children would stop.
She sadly noted how times had changed compared to before when children could play outside their houses. But now many are confined to their homes.
"When we were young, we were not afraid to go outside but now parents are afraid to let their children out. I really wish all of us could pray that cases like this will just stop."
She was referring to the sexual assault and murder of 8-year-old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin whose body was found stuffed in a sports bag on Monday.
