Is it Possible to Cure Your Canine's Whining?

By Hugo I. Cercil

You just got a new puppy whom you adore, but it's driving you crazy whining. You don't know how to stop the crying, and your neighbors are complaining about it, too. Sending the dog away is not your preference, though you do wish to stop the dog from whining. So what in the world is the solution? Luckily, there are ways to help your dog stop whining! A possibility is to employ an electrical tool capable of creating unappealing sounds audible only by the dog. Another option used to stop a dog from whining is to be unwavering in your commands to stop anytime the dog commences the noise. This requires you to be there as often as possible when your pup is whining so that your dog can learn to stop whining and start being quite. Certainly, other methods exist to help the dog stop whining which may also stop other undesirable habits, though this pair will be emphasized here.

Tools

Audio tools to cause the dog to stop whining such as previously discussed are inexpensive and are not harmful to your pet. These devices simply produce a sound which the dog does not enjoy. Consider the effectiveness of a device that presented you with a raucous, unpleasant sound whenever a bad dietary choice was made. You would very quickly stop eating cake because you would not want to hear that noise! This is the idea behind electrical sound emitters that are used to help your dog learn how to stop whining. However, if you find that you just don't like the idea of using the electrical sound device to get your dog to stop whining, there is another method that can be used to break this annoying habit.

Regular, Consistent, Predictable Training

The next best solution is to be present when your dog is whining so that you can get him to stop whining. Should the whining begin, emit a raucous sound or issue an admonishment. Never, ever hit your beloved dog. It is never advisable to strike a pet, regardless of its deportment at any given moment. Rather than spanking your dog, there are other, better methods to make it stop whining or displaying other behaviors you don't like. One solution is to create the distracting noise by slapping your hands together, or a rolled up newspaper against your hand. Either will work to distract your dog and help him stop whining or engaging in any other annoying or destructive behavior. Canine ears are finely tuned, therefore the audio tools are very effective, and though the smacking of a newspaper against a hand may not seem bothersome to the owner, it will certainly irritate the dog. Consistently repeat this every single time your dog starts to whine. By following these tips consistently, you will find your dog will stop whining and your neighbors stop complaining about the noise.
