Don't Know How To Go About Training Your Dog? Try These Methods!

Training your dog is important for a wide variety
of reasons, including safety and health concerns,
among others. Whether you plan on training your
dog yourself or taking the animal to a
professional trainer, the following tips can help
you to end up with an obedient, well-behaved pet.

If you have gotten a new dog or puppy, you should
work on training them right away. If they are
going to be indoor dogs, you can start crate
training them . This prevents bathroom accidents
or your items being chewed on. Start off with the
right sized crate, so that they have enough room
in the crate to move around a bit.

With aggressive dogs it is best to begin slowly.
Aggressive dogs see themselves as the dominant
role in the pack and trying to take that role
from them too quickly can result in a negative
response from the animal. To avoid bites or
difficulty, take small steps in establishing
yourself as the pack leader.

You must enforce any command you give when
training your dog. Giving a command that you are
not confident in or not willing to follow through
with diminishes your role as leader. Do not ask,
beg or scream. Give firm commands in a dominant
tone and expect the dog to give the appropriate
behavior. Your dog will see you as a true leader
when you follow through.

Don't force your dog to go into his crate.
Instead, profusely praise him when he enters his
crate on his own. Young puppies, in particular,
might be somewhat afraid of the crate when it is
first introduced. If you force them to enter it
their fear might turn into terror. Their natural
curiosity will eventually override their fear.

Show your dog that you love them and are proud of
them. It's easy in dog training to focus on the
negative and try to show your dog that what they
are doing is wrong. Make sure that you also work
to accentuate the positive and praise them when
they are doing well.

Your breeder should begin socialization with your
puppy, but it is up to you to continue it. It is
important for a puppy to get used to people and
the environment around him, but he will need to
be protected from becoming too overwhelmed or
scared. Your job is to encourage your puppy's
confidence as he goes out into the world.

Always end a training session with your dog on a
positive note, even if you have to manipulate the
scenario to make your dog successful. Ending a
training session immediately after a disciplinary
action will mean that your dog will remember the
session as being about punishment, not about
training.

Not all dogs are comfortable around other dogs or
people. The best way to train your dog to be more
comfortable around other animals or people is to
expose them to as many people and other dogs as
often as possible, preferably earlier in their
life. This will make them accustomed to being
around others.

As stated before, puppy training can be difficult
sometimes. Dogs love to play, and will do so when
training. Dogs must learn proper commands before
they obey them. Using the puppy training tips
from the article above, you can train your dog to
follow your commands and become obedient.
