What Bengal Cat Breeders Florida Recognizes Want You To Know

By Timothy Thomas

Cat lovers are different than other people. They may mimic their feline friends in the independence and curiosity they exhibit. They may find satisfaction and personal fulfillment without much encouragement or attention from others. The type of cat that best compliments those personalities and lifestyles can vary widely. Some prefer lap cats and lazy laid back companions. Others enjoy rambunctious, active felines that challenge and excite. Bengal cat breeders Florida recognizes, will tell you their kittens can be a handful.

Bengals are a hybrid species brought about over a period of time by the union of domestic cats and their feral cousins, Asian leopards. They have very distinctive markings and characteristics that resemble both wild and tame. These beautiful animals are not for everyone. Although many people love the idea of owning an animal that seems so exotic, Miami FL professional breeders want potential purchasers to fully understand what Bengals really are. Too often, enthusiastic buyers return kittens because they have underestimated the time and attention these animals require.

These are very smart animals. They have no trouble sitting back and watching you perform a task such as opening a door or drawer and then replicating the act themselves. Once they have mastered the basic technique, repeating it is no problem for them. You may have to outwit them by putting special locks or other devices on your doors, but do not be surprised if they figure out how to work that hardware as well.

Bengals do not usually do well in tight or confined spaces. These cats are extremely energetic, agile, and strong. Most love the outdoors where they are free to stalk birds, lizards, and climb trees. If these felines do not have room to explore, they are likely to destroy their surroundings out of boredom.

Cats are naturally nocturnal animals. With their superior vision, felines have an advantage over their prey when it is dark. Bengals seem to have retained a lot of the night time hunter instinct. They may spend hours prowling through your house deciding just what they can get into next. Their owners never know exactly what they will wake up to in the morning.

Most Bengals love water. They will not care if the water is in the bathtub, the kitchen sink, the toilet, or the family swimming pool. These cats are well known for splashing all the water out of their water dishes just to lap it up from the floor. They also love to eat paper. If you leave magazines, books or business papers laying around, your Bengal might treat them as though they were catnip.

These animals are not typically known as lap cats. They usually love human company and will enjoy countless hours of play and affection, but do not depend on them to curl up with you at the end of a long day. A Bengal is an animal with a restless and energetic personality.

While Bengals can make great pets, they are not for everyone. Make sure you have the right temperament, enough patience, and sufficient fortitude before you take on this feline challenge.
