We receive this "Good News" via E-mail this morning. At first , we were very happy because our beloved Casey was chosen as one of the semi-finalist and going into the finals in the Cutest Pet Contest ....
- However, upon furthter reading the e-mail, we are not sure what to feel anymore ..... advice form our dear readers please ...... ?

Our own opinion:
Total Cost to enter Casey into this competition and to buy the book roughly around USD150.00. In addition, this does not guarantee anything!!
Our conclusion,
- Why must we pay money to enter a contest?
- Why should we pay for the book, when the publisher is using our photo and selling them?
We don't' know, that just our humble and honest opinion. To be honest, we feel better publishing photos of our pets and all our featured pets in Casey and Peanut Blog for everyone to see and its free for all.

I got the exact same email for my pet picture about a week ago and it is for the 2008 book. Did you end up buying a copy or seeing a copy of your dog in a book? Can you please respond asap so I can decide if I'm willing to pay alot of money for this book!

Tara: Dear Tara, thanks for visiting & reading Casey and Peanut Blog. Personaly, I think many people have gotten the exact same email. We did not end up buying the book because after summing up the bill for the "Book" and "picture frame", we felt that we can do better by taking a digital photo of our pets and have it develop our selves. In addition, we felt that the book is overpriced!.... because, if we allow the publisher to use our pets picture, to sell it and to profit from it .... the least the could do is to send us a free copy .... or maybe we pay for the Shipping and Handling .... why should we pay for it somemore .... that's just our honest and humble opinion. Hope it helps.

Okay. I got one too and it is very flattering, except that I know I accidentally sent the wrong pic with his (Peanut the Jack Russell) eyes closed. Definately not a semi-final photo, but alas... I have come to the conclusion that it is a well established scam that is perfectly legal, like most business these days. If 3000 people send in photos of their pets and say 2000 buy a book and plaque, that's about $300,000.00. Then all they have to do is print your pets pic in the number of books that you have ordered and put together a plaque, since they are doing 2000 of these I am sure they get a hefty discount for each, and "awarding" someone $1000.00 won't cut that deep into their $300,000.00. Wonder how much they profit? $100,000.00? More than many of us make in a year for what 30 days worth of actual work, maybe? Since they send the book, plaque and issue the reward, it's legal. I work for a suburban Chicago police department, and my suggestion... If your friends and family get together with pics of all their pets, you can get them all published just the same for a fraction of the cost and you will know every animal in it. Just call a local publishing company and ask. Seems like a better book to me when I can all those pets my friends and winners of cuteness!
