Tips and Advice on Beagle Care

By Jimmy Kazoo

Beagles are one dog breed which most people love to go crazy over. There are many reasons for this. They are simply very charming and win everyone over with their big eyes, bursts of energy, and wagging tails. Everyone loves these fun and energetic dogs. They make great pets for people with big yards or like to go outside. If you plan on purchasing a beagle, there are some important things you need to know to take care of your beagle.

Training a beagle isn't very easy - you will need to have a lot of patience. These dogs can be very bullish when they are being trained. Beagles have short attention spans so training them can be difficult as you always need to keep the focused and attentive. If there are many distractions around while they are being trained, it will be hard to teach them.

Furthermore, avoid having variations in your training curriculum. It might get them confused about what each command means. The training classes should be consistent. The younger your beagle, the easier it will be trained. Training dogs when they are little is the best way to ensure they get trained properly. Taking your pet to an obedience school will ensure that they are taught all the important commands and don't use their energy to destroy your home.

Its important to train your dog to go to the bathroom outside. Give your pet dog with snacks when he goes outside to potty so your pet associates outdoors with the bathroom. However, only do this for a short time. If this is done for a long time, you dog will only go outside if food is involved. This will result in poor training and over feeding of your dog.

Remember to groom your dog, especially its feet and ears, regularly. Make sure to brush its teeth often and brush its coat once or twice a week. This will keep its coat clean and shiny. It will help get rid of dirt and pests. If your dog gets dirty, make sure to give them a bath. The toe-nails of your pet should be trimmed by you when required. Make sure to also check and clean behind your beagles ears regularly as they have a tendency to attract bugs and other insects that might cause problems with your dog. If your dog does get one, make sure to call a vet and take care of it right away.

Its also important to schedule annual visits to the doctor. Regular check ups with a doctor ensure that your beagle is safe and healthy. You don't want to wait until it is too late. Always keep a good vets contact number close by for any medical crisis for your beagle. Feed your pet premium quality dog food. Don't try to over feed your beagle. Only feed them during regular times a day and don't feed them a lot of treats and human food during the course of the day. Doing all of these things will ensure a long and healthy life for your pet beagle.
