Breeds of Larger Canine That You Will Probably Enjoy

By Allison Meckler

Are you looking to get a dog? If you're like me, you might like the idea of a big dog over a small one. I find them to be livelier and a lot more fun, though many might disagree with my opinion.

Still, if you find yourself in the big dog camp, here are four breeds definitely worth looking into if you're considering the idea of getting a bigger dog.

Contrary to popular belief, the Rottweiler is a great dog that happens to be a lot sweeter than many people believe them to be. It all comes down to how they're trained, and they're completely gentle when trained right.

Perhaps you want a dog that will be a good watchdog and also extremely loyal to you. If this is the case, then a German Shepherd will be a good choice for you. They are really great with children and are fantastic pets.

They'll get along wonderfully with your kids, and they'll be very protective of your house. They're athletic and playful, so be sure to give your German Shepherd plenty of exercise.

Another dog that is great with children is the Vizsla. This dog is very sweet and also athletic, along with the fact that they can live as long as 15 years despite their size. Give some consideration to this dog if you have children.

When you would like a dog that has an absolutely adorable face and eyes, consider getting a Dog de Bordeaux, also known as a French Mastiff. Your children will love how friendly they are.

When compared with a bulldog, they are more gentle and cleaner. A good thing to point out is that there will be no shedding with this dog, just a little occasional drooling.

We have just touched on some of the numerous good breeds of big dogs that are out there. They are all great choices. However, if none of these are to your liking, do not give up. There are many other breeds, in the hundreds, which might be just the right choice for you.
