Article From SubmitYOURArticle.com: Puppy Health - The Do's and Don't's
Puppies are so cute and adorable that you'll end
up bringing one home before you really know what
you're doing. Because you were, after all, seeing
those cute puppy dog eyes and not looking at a
manual that says that having a puppy is a huge
responsibility. Yes, owning a puppy and keeping
him healthy does take some responsibility on your
part, but it doesn't have to be hard. The
following are some instructions about keeping
your puppy healthy...
Puppy nutrition.
You may have noticed there are so many different
types of puppy food available, so how can you
select the best one? Spend a little time doing
research in the beginning to find the best food
for puppy. I'm not able to go into too much
detail here but as a general guide, look for
ingredients with meat and vegetables and avoid
fillers like too much grain. Always make sure
there is plenty of clean water for him to drink.
Puppies need plenty of affection. Puppies grow
into dogs and unfortunately, some people lose
interest in them after that. Dogs that don't get
enough attention can become bored and start
digging up your garden or chewing your valuable
possessions. Make time to be with your dog and
buy him plenty of toys he can chew on.
Puppies are always rushing around and usually
will get enough exercise so long as they have
enough room to run around in. Playing games with
your pup provides him (and you!) the exercise he
needs. Try throwing him a ball and training him
to bring it back, you'll probably get bored
before he does! Walking your puppy not only
provides exercise, but also teaches him to walk,
stop and sit on command.
Take care of your puppy's teeth by brushing them
and/or giving them safe, hard bones to gnaw. Get
them used to teeth brushing, nail clipping, and
brushing when they're young. You'll thank
yourself later!
Your puppy will need to go to the vet for his
vaccinations and checkups. Find a good vet and
take your puppy in on a regular basis. The
majority of vets will send out a message to
remind you when your puppy's appointment is.
You now know that owning a healthy puppy is quite
easy. Simply keep him safe, stick to a schedule
of check-ups and vaccinations and source the best
puppy foods you can find and you should have many
years of companionship with your new best friend.
