Therefore you should aim to restrict access to places like bedrooms and living areas, and should try to keep the dog in the kitchen or utility area.
Any time that you take the dog out, and they do not go to the toilet as you expect them to, then you should bring them straight back in after about 10 to 15 minutes. You should then make sure that you bring the dog straight back outside about 20 minutes later, and see if they use the toilet then.
It's also important to establish a feeding schedule for the animal. Feed them at regular times of the evening, and in the morning if you desire to do so. Ensure that you keep to the schedule and that you take the animal out side as said above 30 minutes to an hour after each feeding.
