Puppy Owner's Guide To Shih Tzu Training

By Ron Aguilar

Shih Tzu training is as critical and as feasible as training other kind of dogs. Shih Tzu's also known as Lion dogs are regarded as one of the oldest breeds of dog.

Below are outlined Shih Tzu training tips to guide dog owners:

In housebreaking, decide what strategy to use. Are you going to paper training him as you are too busy to take him outside every time he must use the bathroom? Choose which one works best for you and your dog.

Then, train yourself. Put simply, you must be well informed enough and know the proper way to train your dog the technique you have chosen.

When he accidentally use the sitting room as his bathroom, don't attempt to strike him or rub his nose on his very own mess. Physical punishment will not correct him; instead will just make things harder.

When it comes to obedience training, train your dog the basic come, sit and stay commands. These basic commands are his fundamental components to other more complicated obedience training and will help you develop a pleasant relationship with your dog.

Use positive beefing up. Positive re-strengthening increases the chance for a dog to exhibit the same behavior again; It is composed of loving praise, pats and treats. Giving of treats is an efficient way in dog obedience training. But just make efforts to show and give the treat just when the command is performed. Showing of treats before giving the command is similar to bribing your dog to do it. Your target is to train him to follow commands because he loves and respects you as his leader.

Whether or not you are on housebreaking or obedience training, give him correct diet. Ask your veterinarian on the types and quantity of food you need to give your pet. It'll also help if you are aware of what foods are going to be evaded to reduce the risk of allergy and other food-related problems.

These few tips appear to be extremely simple but will surely bring the best out of your Shih Tzu dog. And what precisely you will get? A Shih Tzu dog with human sufficient behavior and is great to be around.

My shih tzu puppy doesn't respond to treats. Any other tips, besides patience? I do take her out regularly, every morning, night and several times during the day but she still has accidents when I'm not watching her carefully..
