Article From SubmitYOURArticle.com: Famous Hollywood Dogs
Yes, it's true; Americans love their dogs! A look
at our popular TV culture will definitely prove
America's flair for dogs. Movies and TV shows
that contain dog personalities are a hit and some
even become classics. In America, dogs, get to be
celebrities. Some of these characters are the
following:
Rin Tin Tin
Rin Tin Tin was the first dog to obtain celebrity
status. This dog was a German shepherd who
starred in 26 Warner Brothers Pictures. He was
credited for saving the company from going
bankrupt during the period of silent films. He
died at the age of 13 but fan clubs still exist
up to this day.
Lassie
If you ask anybody to name a dog, you will almost
always, get Lassie for an answer. This was a very
famous character with a television series in his
name, a lot of movies, and books had been written
about him. He may be the most famous of all
canines in the history of Hollywood. The first to
portray Lassie in a movie was a collie named Lad.
He was the one who starred in the television
series and also in several of the movies. The
succeeding dogs to portray him were mostly males.
Benji
During the seventies, a guy named Joe Camp went
to Hollywood selling his dog movie. He was
repeatedly turned down along the way and so
decided in making the film himself. After
finishing the film, he, again, had a hard time
trying to convince distribution companies to take
his film. So, he took the responsibility again of
distributing his film worldwide. All his efforts
paid off when the movie became a hit around the
globe. The movie was titled, "Benji," and starred
a mixed-breed dog from a shelter for animals. The
same dog was also the star in a television series
called "Petticoat Junction." Through the years
that followed, several Benji movies were also
produced, and that includes tv programs,
specials, comics, and merchandise.
All of these dogs have been certainly a hit
either in movies or in television. They all
proved to be lovable characters that everyone
seemed to enjoy; and that is what made them such
well-known characters and celebrities in the
United States. Who can forget Lassie, Rin Tin
Tin, or Benji? The success of their stories truly
shows how much of America love dogs in their
heart.
