Horse gates are an essential part of any type of
a pasture or stable that a horse is going to be
kept in. This is necessary because it is going
to be difficult to have a horse jump over the
fence every time. There has to be a way to get
the horse in the pasture or wherever it is being
put with ease. Not all of them do exactly what
you want them to do.

These gates can be any color that you would
like. Most of the time, they use steel to make
them. Those are the most common ones that are
sold now. These hold up a lot better than the
wooden ones. Some people will make their own for
inside of the stalls and other places too.

Some of them are going to have a longer length
than others. The ones that are going into the
barn stalls are going to be a lot shorter
because there is not a lot of room for them to
be very big. The ones going into a pasture is
going to need to be longer. This is nice
especially if there is a horse that is acting
up.

There are many different ways to latch them
also. Horses are very smart animals and can
unlatch certain kinds of gate closures. It is
important to get one that your horses are unable
to operate. Some people are able to get away with
the type that just has a pin that drops down into
it and holds it. Others cannot use this kind
because their horse can pull the pin out.

An untrained animal is not fun to try and catch
when it gets out of the pen. A lot of people
will run a string to electric fence across their
entry way to the pasture so that if they do get
it open, they will be too scared to run out.
Some of them will go through regardless but most
of them will not.

Not everybody is using this type of gate for an
animal pasture though. Some people will use them
to place at the end of their driveway to keep
people out that do not belong in there. Other
people may put them on a fenced in hay field so
that they are able to fit their tractor through.
Two of them can be put together so that the
opening can be twice as large.

One thing that is nice about these is that they
can also be painted to be any color. They can be
repainted to match the rest of the environment if
needed also. If the color that you would like is
unavailable, another color can be applied so
that it does match your color.

These can be purchased from most of the stores
that carry all of the farm or animal supplies.
Most lumber companies are going to have them as
well. There are a lot of uses for them and they
are not only used on a big farm.
