Pet Clothing Could Be Fun, Functional Or Both

Many owners enjoy dressing up their animals in pet clothing. Outfitting their friends in costumes can increase holiday enjoyment. The garb can also serve the purpose of providing protection against the elements. Pets that are outside for more than a few minutes may need an extra layer against the cold or wet weather. Some owners like to make their own pet outfits while others buy them.

Owners enjoy dressing up their animal family members for holidays and special events. There are outfits available for various pets. Dogs and cats are the two most popular pets to dress up. Dogs are less resistant than cats.

Costumes for dogs are available to celebrate many different holidays. Christmas and Easter as well as many nation's individual independence days are popular. Some owners dress their pets up just for walks around home. Others outfit their animals for parades or to show off and compete in pet shows. Garments can be anything from a basic hat to a full head to toe get up.

Christmas is probably the most popular holiday for dressing animals up. Commemorating the season can bring joy to owners. These holiday inspired outfits can also serve to protect pets against the cold or wet weather associated with the time of year. Simple red and green colors can be used. Snowflake and star inspired outfits are also popular.

Dressing a dog up to look like a reindeer is another outfit often seen around Christmas. The outfit can consist of head wear with antlers and a red nose inspired by Rudolph. Body and legs can be covered with fur like material. The feet can be outfitted with foot wear resembling deer hooves.

People need extra protection against extreme weather conditions. Indoor based pets need the same protection to be safe. Animal family members need extra layers to keep them warm and dry when being walked or when let out on their own.

Pet clothing is available from any number of sources. Local pet stores sell outfits. Mail order catalogs are available. On line stores are there as well to anyone with an internet connection. Another option is making outfits at home. Many pet owners enjoy making costumes themselves. This can be done with wool, cotton or other fabrics. Knitting an outfit is also a popular activity. Any of these choices is a way to show love for an important family member.
