Important Information On Rubber Horse Mats

By Adriana Noton

Horses are domestic animals that are loved and adored by many; the only problem is that they demand too much attention and care in order to remain healthy and useful. To avoid the chances of your horses getting sick and failing to serve the purpose for which you have decided to keep them, you must observe basic care and that includes purchasing horse mats and other necessary equipment to make sure that they live in a comfortable environment.

Another reason why rubber tends to be favored is due to the fact that it is soft and will provide some form of cushion to protect the horses from the stress that often results from lying on the floors that do not have any cover. Such hard surfaces are known to cause joint pains and could affect your animals in the long term.

The purpose for buying the mat is a factor worth considering. This is mainly because there are many reasons why one may decide to buy a mat. Depending on the reason, the choice of the mat may be affected. Since there are so many brands and designs in the market, you will have the challenge of looking into the advantages of buying one brand against the other before you make any commitments.

It is therefore important to ensure that you start by preparing the floor adequately before you even think of having a mat installed. This will ensure that any urine or water that may find its way under the mat will easily flow out of the stable towards the drainage as expected. In order for the urine to flow in the right direction, the flow has to be inclined towards one end.

If the surface underneath the mat is not level, there are bound to be pools of urine collecting at the sunken areas and this kind of situation will damage your mat within a very short time not to mention that the urine that doers not flow out will start smelling and could easily result in a number of strange diseases to your horses.

There are two main designs of horse mats namely the interlocking and straight horse mats. The choice of either design will influence the way the installation process takes place. It is also worth noting that each design has its advantages as well as concerns. Once you have your stable floors well made and you have decided on the type of mat, it is time to start looking for a store from where to buy your mat.

The other advice that one can pay attention to is to go for thick designs as they tend to hold their positions firmly and thus will not have to be anchored to remain in place. They also have better cushioning and will last longer besides being soft enough to provide comfort for your horses.

Lastly, rubber horse mats can be a very cost effective option that provides almost all the required breeding conditions in your stables at the convenience of both your animals and yourself. With some rubber mat companies giving considerably long warranties exceeding five years, you can be sure to save a lot of money by investing in them. Cleaning stable floors that have been professionally covered using rubber mat also happens to be very easy and this will largely reduce the amount of labor that has to be employed in the stables to handle the tasks.
