What Is the Best Flavor of Dog Teeth Cleaning Gel?

The leading manufacturers of dog teeth cleaning
products today basically offer two flavors of
teeth gel. The basic option is a simple
peppermint flavor. Although this may seem odd
for using in a dog related product, few canines
resist it. The second most common flavor found
in dog toothpaste is salmon. This may seem more
suitable for a cat product, but dogs seem to
really enjoy the taste.

From experience, we know that some dogs simply
resist the process of using any type of cleaning
paste with them. Many pet owners therefore
attribute this resistance to the fact that the
dog perhaps does not like the flavor of the
canine teeth cleaning gel. In almost all
situations the problem is with the dog resisting
the cleaning process in itself.

One of the biggest mistakes that pet owners make
when trying to clean tartar and plaque from dog
teeth is that they rush the process in the
beginning and create a negative and stressful
situation for their pet. It is very important in
the beginning that the process is taken very
slowly and gradually and therefore easing the
dog into the idea of allowing his or her teeth
to be cleaned. It depends on the type of dog and
his or her personality, that this process could
take several days to even several weeks of
slowly getting him or her used to the idea of
placing either your finger or a tooth brush in
their mouth.

If the first few times in attempting this
procedure is very stressful for the dog, pet
owners may never get a second chance as the dog
will remember the poor experience forever and
always become frightful and stressed at the site
of the dog toothpaste and/or brush. Pet owners
should begin the process by simply having the
brush and bottle of toothpaste near the dog will
petting and playing with him. This way, there is
nothing that pleasure and fun associated
whatever the teeth cleaning products are nearby.
Continuing on, the pet owner can then begin
touching and rubbing on the pets teeth while
simultaneously petting or rubbing his ears and
having the teeth cleaning products nearby.

As this process continues for a number of days
the pet owner can then open the bottle of
cleaning gel and allow the pet to sniff the
contents while still being petted and praised.
Since most dogs enjoy the flavor of the
products, it's been okay for the owner to dip a
finger into the gel and allow the animal to
smell and even taste the product. Unlike with
human toothpaste, there is no need to worry
about the dog swallowing any of the product.
This will be a natural process during regular
cleanings and there is no need for concern.

And again here, depending on the dog's
personality, one can continue the process of
placing a small amount of dog teeth cleaning gel
onto the brush and playing with the dog what
touching the dogs mouth and teeth. If in doubt
as to how fast to continue this process always
proceed on the cautious side and take it very
slowly. In almost 100% of the cases, if pet
owners will follow this process and slowly
expose their pet to the process of dog teeth
cleaning using special canine toothpaste and
brush, they will be able to proceed eventually
and do a proper and regular cleaning of the
dog's teeth.
