Copyright (c) 2011 Donna Edwards

They may be intelligent and highly trainable,
but every Cane Corso owner knows that Cane Corso
training can become a bit difficult especially if
this breed's protective instinct kicks in. They
may even show aggressive behavior that could
pose threat to anyone around including itself.
That's the reason Cane Corso experts encourage
that this breed be provided with the training it
needs without delay since training intends to
assist these four-legged friends behave and
respond in manner acceptable by humans.

Formidable and imposing as they may look, there
are many methods to get impressive outcome from
training this breed. Whether you're training
your pet the very easy commands or the most
complicated tricks, you will always need to
start utilizing the basic training tips. These
basic tips aren't only easy to follow but are
also building blocks for more complicated
training someday.

Cane Corso training should begin early.

Because of their imposing character, this breed
is very likely to demonstrate aggressive
behaviors when confronted or sees the need to
protect their owners. Hence to prevent
aggressive behavior from growing, socialization
must be carried out when they're really young.
Through this, Cane Corso puppies will meet new
people, go to new places and get to experience
several things hence won't consider such things
as peculiar or terrifying.

Learn more about the breed.

A dog's care, grooming and training demands,
personality and health issues differ from the
other depending on the breed, age and even past
living condition (if abandoned by previous
owner). Hence to find out the training strategy
that would match your dog perfectly, it's a good
idea to know more about it by observing how it
takes action to several situations. Knowing the
pet's state of health is also important in
identifying its physical limitation.

Build a bond with your dog.

By knowing more about and spending some time
with your pet, both of you can eventually form a
fantastic attachment with one another. When this
occurs, it wouldn't be too hard for you to get
your four-legged friend to obey commands you're
telling it to accomplish. Be wary though as this
breed has a tendency to form close attachment to
their owner hence very likely to develop canine
separation anxiety (CSA).

Give rewards when necessary.

Rewards are what drives a pet to obey a command.
The principle behind this is that, when a dog
exhibits a desired behavior, giving of reward
aims to motivate it to repeat the action it is
being rewarded for. Reward could be anything the
dog find worthwhile from praise and time to play
to the most savory treat you'll find.

Avoid physical punishment.

While some owners find it tempting to hit their
pets when a mishap is committed, control is
necessary not to do so since physical punishment
will do the two of you no good. In fact, it'll
only make matters worse because it may result in
fear and other issues.
