Not All Drugs For Treating Dog Arthritis Are Safe

Most dogs will develop joint disease later in
their lives. How severe the canine arthritis
is depends on their size, their breed, and any
genetic predispositions they may have inherited
for it. There is no cure for arthritis and it is
a disease that naturally progresses and worsens
with age. However, there are some dog arthritis
medicines that can ease some of the pain and
discomfort dogs have from the joint problems.

Some of these medicines are prescribed by vets
after they have verified that osteoarthritis is
the reason for the dog's stiffness and sore
joints. Many of these medicines work very well
in many dogs. However, canine owners should be
aware that there have been many instances where
these prescribed medications have caused
extremely bad side effects and sometimes have
even caused death in some dogs. Although the
instances are not extremely high for major
complications with prescriptions dog arthritis
medicine, the occurrences are far higher than
would ever be allowed for human usage.

Plainly put, if the deaths and severe side
effects for the dog arthritis medicine vets
prescribe for your pet at a rate in human drugs
as they are with those, they would be banned
from the market.

It is very important that you, as your dog's
owner, be aware of these side effects and what
to watch out for if your dog is given them. Not
only should you ask your vet all the details
about the drugs and what effects they may have
on your do in a negative way, you should also do
your own research on the web for any information
you can find out about the drugs.

In many cases you will be utterly shocked at
the negative accounts of other dog owners out
there who have had extremely bad experiences
with many of these medicines they though would
help their dogs suffering from osteoarthritis
pain.

In almost all cases, especially in the
beginning of the disease when the arthritis
symptoms are not too severe, we suggest trying a
glucosamine product for dog arthritis to see how
it may help the dog. Liquid glucosamine is an
all natural dog medicine for treating arthritis
joint pain. Be aware that it does not mask the
pain or cover it up as most the other medicines
do. It actually helps the body to repair the
damage caused by the arthritis disease.
Therefore, it may take several weeks up to
several months of daily doses of the glucosamine
arthritis medicine before your dog will
experience any easing of the symptoms or
lessening of the joint problems he or she is
experiencing.
