Eliminate Biting Issue Through German Shepherd Training

For anyone who is new to German Shepherd
training, there are certainly some difficulties
to overcome. In some instances, you could
encounter one of those stubborn pups who just
don't wish to listen, at which point you need
the strategies of the experts at your disposal.
Use these tips for additional information on how
to eliminate biting problem, with an edge that
won't fail.

Dogs that are likely to bite on anything can
both be harmful and irritating. Although it's a
normal dog behavior, it's vital that you teach
your dog that mouthy play is undesirable. If you
don't communicate that biting is unwanted, your
puppy won't understand that he is doing
something wrong.

When you catch your pup biting, redirect him to
a chew toy or bone. To do so, yelp or create a
noise like you are hurt and say "No!" in a firm
tone of voice the moment he starts to bite. Once
he stopped biting, give him the chew toy and get
rid of the item he's chewing. If he keeps
biting, act like you are hurt, neglect him and
move away from him for a few seconds. By doing
the procedure every time your German Shepherd
bites, he'll shortly understand that the deed
causes you pain and the fun stops when you are
hurt. Hence to keep the fun going and receive
rewards, he should refrain from biting or reduce
the force of the bite. Limiting the force of the
bite is known as bite inhibition.

Dog-proof your home if you know that your pet is
prone to chewing and biting everything in sight
when the family is out. You may crate your pet
but if you don't want to, you'll have to behave
as if there's a baby in the house and take away
access to those things that your canine may get
into when you're away. When you are expecting
visitors, crate is also a great tool to avoid
injuries and other problems.

While you're teaching a doggy to quit biting,
don't play any wrestling, tug of war or any game
that encourage biting and chasing. This helps
avoid misunderstandings and strengthen what
you're teaching him. Desirable outcome may not
be seen at once but by being consistent with
German Shepherd training techniques described
will teach your dog that there are certain
behaviors that are improper. Soon your dog will
stop these behaviors and you'll have a playful
yet obedient dog.
