Lifejackets For Dogs And K-9 Lifejackets Can Make Water Activities More Fun
Do you take your dog to the beach? Or perhaps out
on your boat? I see more and more dogs on boats,
and at beach areas where they are permitted. I
practice this behavior myself and my dog loves
it. Every time I put her in the car she knows
she's either going to the veterinarian's office,
or off to a great day on the water. That's got to
be confusing!
I always assumed she was a great swimmer, being
a Labrador retriever it must be in her blood.
Just jump in the water and swim, and that is
exactly what she does. Fortunately she is a good
swimmer and really enjoy is the water. However as
she has gotten older I've noticed she gets tired
very quickly and after a short while is content
to just sit on the beach and stare at the water.
I haven't seen many dogs in the water wearing
life jackets,and I don't understand that. They
seem to be enjoying the water much more. They
didn't have to struggle just to keep their head
above water; the lifejackets seem to support
their whole body nicely. So I bought my favorite
four-legged friend a Stearns dog lifejacket. She
absolutely loves it, and I swear sometimes I
think I can see how more confident she is in the
water.
Dog life-jackets is very similar to a dog
raincoats, they don't restricted the dogs
movement in any way. So they can run and swim
and partake in any activities in total comfort.
Dog lifejackets also have a built-in handle on
the back which could help you secure your dog an
emergency.
The lifejacket I purchased also has a sturdy
ring that I can attach a retractable dog leash
to. This a great feature and if you feel the
need to control your dog little, you can easily
reel them in if they need your help.
A Stearns dog lifejacket can easily save your
dogs life, I recommend that all dogs wear them
at the beach, or whatever near water. It is only
natural for a dog to get distracted when at the
beach or on your boat. If this is their first
time at the beach or on the boat everything is
new to them. They can easily get themselves
into a swim or die situation.
When my son's Labrador retriever leaped off the
boat while they were at the dock. This can become
a very dangerous situation; there are motor
propellers to be aware of. Even if the motor is
off the propeller of an outboard is still just a
few inches under the water where a dog could
easily get hurt.
If the dog swims towards the dock there are very
sharp barnacles just under the water line that
could seriously injure your pet. Your dog is
only going to be in the water a few minutes
before he or she starts to get exhausted. A
proper fitting dog lifejacket could change all
that! Not only would it provide your dog with
ample time to comfortably swim, and would
provide you a strong sturdy handle to assist
your dog back on the boat.
I've seen dogs at the beach gets so excited and
happy to be playing in the water, that they tire
themselves out, and struggle to make it back to
shore. An exhausted or worn-out dog can easily
get caught in an outgoing current or riptide. An
inexpensive item like a dog lifejacket can give
you the peace of mind knowing that if your dog
does get in trouble and need rescuing him or she
will not drown when wearing a properly fitting
dog lifejacket.
Dog lifejackets are available in all sizes and
can fit just about any dog. They range in size
from dog life jacket extra small to dog life
jacket extra large and everything in between.
They also have adjustable straps so is a proper
fit is never a problem. They also come in many
colors, and some have reflective piping to help
you spot them in dark. Some dog lifejackets have
an area on the back where you can clip a mini
strobe light. This is a great feature at the
beach at night when it can get very dark. That
little red blinking light can sure give you
peace of mind knowing where she is at all times.
I hope this little article inspires you to
purchase a dog lifejacket for your favorite
four-legged canine friend. They depend on you to
feed them and take care of them. A dog lifejacket
is an inexpensive and responsible way to
demonstrate that you a responsible pet owner.
Everyone you put on your boat and every person
you take to the beach is your responsibility.
Believe me when I say; you'll enjoy the extra
peace of mind knowing that everyone your
responsible for has a life jacket, and even a
dog lifejacket for you dog
