Pet Cemetery: Options For Coping With The Loss Of Your Pet

The death of any family member is tragic enough;
but the death of a beloved pet holds its own
terrible sense of loss. Dealing with this loss
is no less difficult. The same applies to the
mourning period which one must pass through if
they are to move beyond their pain. Many hard
choices will be made during this trying time.
Tending to the pet's memorial services, if any
are to be held, and its final resting place are
just a few. One option is burial at a pet
cemetery. Nearly every state in the United
States has pet cemeteries.

For those who can afford it there are a variety
of cemeteries and services available, including
public and private accommodations. You may
choose to go with a burial or cremation. For
burial services a wide variety of caskets and
headstones are available. For cremation there
are several different styles and sizes of urns
to choose from; each can be uniquely engraved
representing the individual pet. Additionally,
there are a host of bereavement services which
may be selected to help the family members cope
with their loss and move on.

In addition to burial and cremation options,
many facilities offer a variety of remembrance
services which include bronzed dog collars,
small stones, figurines, and an assortment of
plaques - all depicting the pet's name and/or
likeness. There are even internet based virtual
memorials for pets who have passed away. This
allows anyone the ability to visit the pets
memorial any time they wish, day or night, from
virtually anywhere in the world.

Another service being offered to help people
cope with the loss of a pet is cloning.
Currently certain South Korean labs are the only
ones in the world cloning animals including pets.
While this practice, reminiscent of the box
office movie The Sixth Day - starring Arnold
Schwarzenegger, is extremely controversial it is
seen by some as a viable alternative to the
permanent loss of a pet. People who are
pro-cloning have argued that in addition to
pets, endangered species could be saved through
this method as well. Additionally, they point
out that animals such as dogs, used in rescue
and law enforcement for everything from finding
bodies to sniffing out drugs and bombs, could be
cloned as well.

Many people choose to bury deceased pets within
the confines of their own properties. While this
may be an option for homeowners, those living in
apartments or condominiums do not have this
option. For them a pet cemetery and the services
it has to offer is the only option. It gives them
a nearby place where they can visit their pet and
pay their respects. No matter how we choose to
deal with the loss of a beloved pet there are
many services available to us.
