How To Stop Dog Digging

You can overcome dog digging when you take the
time to really teach your dog.

You will want to make sure that you are making
the right efforts to stop this problem and give
your dogs other opportunities to wear out some
energy.

Digging is something that can give your dog a
way out of a gated area and this can be a very
dangerous situation. When a dog is loose an
array of things can happen and this is something
you will want to avoid in your yard.

A dog may dig near fence lines and this is where
you can place a barrier to help overcome this
problem.

This is often a very affordable solution and you
can use wire or other small fencing material to
help you block any areas where you discover
digging. If your dog is digging, you will often
find evidence of this very easy and you can then
use this material to block this spot so that your
dog cannot get to this area again in the future.

When your dog is outdoors you might have to stay
outdoors with them to correct digging when you
see it. This is very important and you do not
want to lose any opportunities to teach your dog
that digging is unacceptable when they are
outdoors.

You should make sure that you are not allowing
your dog to be outdoors without you if you want
to stop this behavior completely.

If you have more than one dog you may find that
the dogs can dig together.

You will have to teach both of these dogs that
you do not allow digging. Many dogs will
participate in bad behavior together and you
will need to work with both dogs to overcome
this problem at the same time.

Dog digging can also occur in a garden area.
This is where fresh soil is often used and this
can be very appealing to a dog that likes to
dig. You may need to close off these areas to
your pets and make them off limits.

You have to remember that many of the behaviors
that your dog learns will be up to you to teach
them. This can establish boundaries and rules
early on that your dog adheres to for life. This
can help your dog to be outdoors and you will not
have to worry about any behavioral problems with
dog digging.
