Dog Training - A Couple of Tips That You Can Use

So you just got a new pet dog into the family, it
is safe to say that you have some good times
ahead of you. But before you get all excited,
you should know that as the owner, you have
numerous responsibilities to deal with. One of
the most essential obligations that you have is
the necessity to train your new pet. But why
would you want to train your canine friend? The
popular notion is that canine training is not
really necessary unless you want your dogs to
learn new neat tricks. But such a notion is
definitely misguided. The benefits of dog
training extend a lot further than for the
purpose of mild amusement. You want your dog to
act appropriately at all times, especially when
you go and take him out of the house. An
untrained canine can pose some real problems not
just to the owners but to other people as well.
Here are some tips on how to effectively train
your pet dog.

When it comes to training your furry companion,
it is important that you are absolutely firm.
Dogs always have the tendency to count
themselves as part of the pack. If there is no
leader figure to be found, a dog will usually
step up and assume the role. But the role of the
pack leader is of course something that should be
delegated to you. This basically means that when
you are giving out commands, you need to deliver
it with clarity and loudness. When training you
pet, it is always recommended that you start
with the most basic ones which are generally
easy. Teaching them with complex commands
earlier on will likely lead to a scenario where
their motivation decreases. Any expert in dog
training will tell you that positive
reinforcement is always the best way to go. This
basically means that you should not incorporate
any sort of punishment on your training plan. So
you should avoid yelling, shouting, hitting or
any other action that could hurt your dog.

To encourage maximum motivation, make sure that
the rewards that you are going to give to your
pet are his favourites. It could be his
favourite treat or snack. Dogs will likely
respond more positively when you train them like
this. Always remember that the activity of
training your dog should be considered a fun
activity, both for you and your pet. See it as a
fun activity to pass the time and not as a chore
that you have to do. If you can't manage to
train your dog by yourself, you always have the
option of hiring professionals that specialise
in dog training.
