A Number Of Issues About Bulldog Aggression

By Salim Habakkuk

One of the noticeable characteristics of a bulldog is that it is generally very composed and calm. There are some instances that may bring about bulldog aggression. Such causes may range from trauma or even fear. As a matter of fact, a bulldog owner should ensure that they are very keen on the behavioral characteristics of their dog as the results of an unruly dog may not be pleasant. Some may even be a danger to society as they may attack and bite any stranger.

Bulldogs may become aggressive for a number of reasons categorically placed based on the underlying causes. The first kind of aggressive behavior may arise from the bulldog's want to dominate a person or situation which strikes them as a threat. Aggression may also stem form anger. Moreover, fear can also be a cause of bulldog aggression especially when the dog is completely frightened. Not to mention the need to protect the surrounding. Still, other causes include trauma or medical illness.

Dog aggression can indeed be dealt with or better yet prevented when the dog is still young and growing. This is easily carried out by ensuring that the dog gets its fair share of socialization. By so doing they become more familiar with the surrounding thus showing less aggression to strangers or even other animals. The whole point is to let the dog interact with other members of society. The owner should be willing to at least take the dog for a walk once in a while.

In cases where the dog is extremely aggressive, behavioral modification would be of great help in dealing with the situation. An expert such as a veterinarian would use their acquired skills to help determine the cause of the problem and come up with ways to change the dog's behavior. On the other hand, a dog owner should train the dog well and establish their role as the pack leader. The result of this is that there will be less aggression towards commands as the bulldog is very dominating.

The dog owner's role as a leader should clearly be established. This ensures that the dog is able to follow commands with obedience. Consequently, there are less chances of aggressive behavior towards other people.

As a final point, bulldog aggression is not a permanent problem. The owner of the dog is faced with the duty of investigating the root cause of the problem. However, there are various solutions to the problem and in case the owner cannot find a solution the best option is to seek professional help. It is better to deal with bulldog aggression than solving the problems it may cause.
