Hog Farming Improvements You Should Know

By Lianne Derocco

Hog farming has encountered several major improvements in the past years. Such innovations are promoted by agriculturists and farmers who have always seen to it that productivity is increased to great heights. But then, increased production is just one of the concerns that are being tackled by them. Aside from these, there is the demand for hog farms to apply practices that take into consideration the welfare of the environment, especially those that are substantial in size. This is because there are many such farms that are employing practices that are not very kind to the environment. It is just fortunate that there are already some solutions meant for these farms.

This may be surprising to you but the truth is that a hog farm could indeed provide solution to problems in energy sources and environmental health. Even at this moment, a lot of people still think that fossil fuels are the only sources of electrical energy that are viable. The truth though is that hog waste could also serve as means for producing electricity. In fact, there are already farms that have been successful in energy generation. They have tapped the biogas that the hogs produce through their wastes and have channeled these for other uses.

In countries where livestock farming is the major sector in the economy, the drive to introduce hog waste as source of energy has led to positive breakthroughs. Some hog farms in New Zealand, for example, have been taking the lead in showing to the world that biogases are just as reliable as the traditional sources of energy. There are farmers in the country who have received awards for the innovations that they have performed such as that in the methods of tapping biogas from hog farms. They have further inspired others hog farm owners to follow their examples.

However, even as hog waste has provided people with fuel alternatives, the farmers themselves have to deal with issues such as top-level crusting and sludge in the waste pit or lagoon. Fortunately, there are already solutions for these issues as well. Before, such answers are chemical-based, which would only prompt new problems instead. Now though, there are many natural products that could prevent crusting and sludge. Farmers must come to familiarize themselves with such natural products if they are keen on preventing waste lagoon problems.

Choose only natural products as solutions to crusting and sludge. By doing so, you would be able to avoid recurring problems. You should try Agra Sphere and Agra Sphere LGT because these are definitely effective. These natural products are good in getting rid of foam. Aside from this, these are also very powerful deodorants for the hog farm. More importantly, these are capable of increasing the energy output of waste lagoon.

There are also other products that hog farmers should try, such as Activator Plus LGT, Compost Plus, and Activator Plus. Because these are made of natural enzymes and bacteria, it is quite obvious that such products are not chemical-based and are non-toxic. These prevent crusting and sludge while keeping the farm safe for both hogs and humans.
