Discover Excellent Puppy Training Tips Experts Use

By Geraldine Dimarco

Some people may disagree but I think that there are very few moments that are as precious as when you have a little puppy falling all over himself to be with you. Dogs are loyal and loving creatures; and when you have the opportunity to build a solid relationship with them early on-it truly makes for a happier and more fulfilling life. Read on for essential puppy training tips you can use today.

1. It's not an easy thing to lay the law when the pup starts looking at you with his adoring brown eyes-believe me I know. However, you must discipline the young animal if you want him to grow up to be an excellent dog later on. The first command of canine training is unbreakable as it is basic: you must firmly set your position as the master of the household.

Animals will instinctively obey those that they deem to be higher than them in hierarchy. When they view you as such, training will be easier because they will aim to please you in whatever way they can. Do not give in to him whenever he cries or complains. Speak to him in a sure and authoritative manner. If he doesn't see you as his leader, it is highly likely that he grows up a domineering dog and might pose as a real danger to society.

2. Puppy potty training is one of the first things all pet owners will need to get done. Around thirty minutes after feeding the pup, bring him out to a designated spot where you want him to poop or pee. After successfully discharging, lavish him with praise and several minutes of undisturbed play time before coming back inside the house. Puppy potty training will take about a couple of months so don't be discouraged when you see a few accidents inside the house during that time.

3. It doesn't mean that the longer you train him, the more he will learn. You must keep your training sessions short but frequent to maximize his learning. Teach simple exercises for him to do all throughout the day and not just during "school" time. Always end each session on a positive note (like giving him a doggie treat or playing with him for a few minutes) so he will look forward to canine training sessions with you.

4. It is best to start training the dog socialization skills when he is young. Eight weeks old is said to be the most ideal time to teach him certain things. In this case, let your puppy meet different kinds of people and other animals by taking him out to densely populated places like the malls, parks, etc. When you do this, he will grow up a friendly dog that you can leave amongst people safely.

Doing these puppy training tips will help shape your pup to be the best dog that he can be-more than that, it is an excellent template on building your relationship on a solid foundation. Go ahead and enjoy your quality time while training-it is one of life's best gifts.
