Environmental Solutions in Farms

By Lianne Derocco

When one is asked what productive activity could be considered as a top pollutant, it is very likely that he would point out that it is manufacturing. Apparently, manufacturing plants deal with certain chemical substances that may end up harming the environment. However, you would certainly be surprised to find out that farming could also contribute to environmental problems. Fortunately, there are certain ways for farmers to actually prevent these. It is important that such methods are discussed thoroughly and for farmers to learn these.

Crop rotation is one particular method that you could apply if you want to protect the environment. Instead of planting the same crop over and over again, you would have to do so with another variety. There is good reason for doing so and this may also be related to the land's fertility in the coming years. When you rotate crops, there should be no single type of soil nutrient that would be overused. This would mean that the soil should be able to replenish the nutrients that were used previously by another crop.

While it may be necessary to use pesticides in order to protect your crops from pests, you should wise in your choices. Otherwise, you may just be making the environment worst with all its problems. You should be aware that most commercial pesticides have so much toxic chemicals in them. These toxins may not only contaminate the food crops but may also render risks to the water sources. If you wish to make your farm safe from pests, you should use organic pesticides.

It is when operating a livestock factory farm that you would probably have issues that could be bad for the environment. It is normal for a farm like this to produce animal waste in excessive quantities. This could be even more so if you operate a hog farm which comes up with so much waste that has to be dealt with. The moment you understand the problem, impulse may prompt you to make use of certain chemicals for waste treatment. This could be the wrong choice because you could be harming the environment in the process.

If you do wish to prevent environmental degradation, you should use Agra Sphere to treat agricultural waste. You could apply this solution to the waste lagoon that may be present in your hog farm. It is through such application that you would be able to prevent the buildup of sludge and crusting as well. Both top layer crusting and sludge buildup are common problems that occur in the waste lagoons of many hog farms. Agra Sphere is organic since it is a mix of beneficial bacteria instead of being a substance that is composed of chemicals.

Another solution that should try is the Lagoon Agra Sphere. Just like Agra Sphere, this also has the capability of making the lagoon free of the usual issues such as crusting, odors and flies. As you try to make sure that your farm remains harmless to the environment, it is best that you apply these products in your waste lagoon.
