Dog Training - Basic Potty Training For Puppies

No one can bear the sight and smell of dog feces
and urine inside their abode. Every puppy parent
must be responsible enough to give their
four-legged family member a proper potty
training. This task is the first task that any
pack leader will have to face. The first thing
that you need to know is the signs that will tell
you that your pooch wants to relieve himself.

When your canine starts sniffing around, he is
looking for a good spot where he can take a dump.
This scene usually occurs after meals. Find a
paper or a newspaper and spread it wide. Put him
on it or you can just place it in one area. In
case he chooses to take a dump or urinate on your
floor, you can just use the paper or grab a
tissue to pick it up.

You will usually see your canine sniffing the
area, this will be his mark. You can expect him
to take his next dump on it. If you do not want
him to defecate or urinate on that spot again,
clean it thoroughly with a good cleaning
solution. You can purchase pad training as well
so that you won't have to clean your floor when
your cuddly friend relieves himself.

The tips above are for your indoor training. If
you have a wide lawn, take your dog outside after
every meal so that he will get used to it and do
things on his own. Use a leash so that you can
take him to the spot where you want him to take a
dump. The leash will greatly help you in potty
training.

You can teach your canine the word "outside".
After his meal, put his leash on and say the word
"outside" while pointing a finger at the door and
pulling him towards it. You can do this every
time you want him to take a walk outdoors and
allow him to defecate. Soon, there will be no
need for you to accompany him, all you will have
to do is command and see him do his routine.

When your furry friend is already doing a great
job, always compliment him. A simple pat on his
head and telling him the words "Good boy" will
make him continue his routine. If you are
planning to place him in a cage or a dog house,
place a litter pan in it. Put it at the far side
of the cage so that he can sleep at the other
side. Remove the waste every time you see some so
that you can keep them clean and you can
eliminate the smell.
