The Importance Of Dog Aggression Training

By Lila Berger

It is nothing short of a celebration, for those who love pets, when they bring home a four legged family member. And when treated like one of the family, the creature does feel like he or she is one of them. Nonetheless, all breeds of dogs are not considered suitable for adoption by families. Certain types are considered aggressive by nature. This makes dog aggression training very important for anyone adopting a pup.

Many types of doggies are taken to be ferocious by birth. Mastiffs and their varieties, Doberman, German shepherds and Rottweilers are some such types. If not trained to be friendly, they are believed to grown up into fierce adults.

While many may not agree, this is quite a misconception. Any dog will grow up to behave in accordance with various factors surrounding him or her. These include the environment they are brought up in, the behavior of their owner humans towards them, the training they receive in the initial few months as well as the attitude of the people they live with. Kindness, affection, love and care will show on the upbringing of the dog. Similarly, a mutt who is mistreated, not fed well or on time, kept chained all the time, and not given any care and attention is likely to grow into an aggressive creature.

Examples of some common traits pets are likely to inculcate are as above. While the surroundings they grow up in naturally embed certain qualities in their attitude, it is also important to groom them in a manner that they behave according to your requirements.

You could be a trainer if you are used to pets being around and making them obey commands. This comes naturally to those who have had pets in their childhood, and lived with and learnt to adjust to them. Teaching a dog tricks and commands becomes a task that can be easily accomplished then.

On the other hand, adopting a dog for the first time implies you have never trained one. You would not, in this case, have the confidence to take upon yourself this task. You could search the Internet for tips, and these are helpful, but proper training needs still be instilled.

Professional trainers are people who fill in the missing piece of this puzzle. They train your pooch to obey commands, learn tricks and behave in a friendly manner. They should be hired soon after the puppy is three to four months old.

Not only puppies, but even adult doggies need coaching at times. They might have been mistreated in their early years, and after being adopted by a more caring family, would requires to be disciplined to adjust to their new home. Such creatures should be carefully dealt with, as even harmless actions could appear to be threatening to them. This, however, would only be as a result of their past experiences with humans.

Dog aggression training is extremely vital to teach a puppy to grow up into a better groomed and behaved adult, and for an adult to learn to become calmer. With the help of professionals, you can get this task accomplished successfully. On the other hand, if you pursue it on your own, make sure you are prepared for mishaps, if any.
