Some Important Things To Know Prior To Getting A Bulldog Stud Service

By Paulette Short

Eight chances out of ten you are reading this article right now is that you are currently looking for a bulldog stud service to mate with your female dog. You should know some basic facts about this kind of service before you actively search for one. Read on to know more about these facts.

This is basically a mating service given by champion bloodline dog owners to other owners of the same dog breed, though some breed mainly for procreation rather than getting prospective champions. It is logical therefore to assume that the better the bloodline, in terms of champions, the higher the asking price will be.

On average for a bloodline champion of over four generations can fetch as high up as 3500 dollars or more. This is because given the longevity of the period, there is a good chance that what pups will be born will become champions themselves in the future. This is advantageous to the client for he or she can actually turn a profit in the long run should the litter be healthy and plentiful.

Before any mating can take place or even prospective contract signing for breeding be taken into account, your bitch has to be tested for brucellosis. This is a canine venereal disease that is very much a concern for all if not most breeders, as it will affect the overall health of not only the stud, but the litter as well. Only when your bitch has passed this requirement can she be considered as an approved mate before the process can begin.

Once both male and female dogs are cleared of brucellosis and other similar conditions, contract terms are discussed. The mating procedure is covered by a contract wherein both parties have most of their concerns covered and listed. The contract conditions are fairly much the same whether there is actual physical mating or artificial insemination is involved.

The contract guarantees the owner of the female, or the one hiring the stud, that the owner of the stud guarantees a certain number of generations pedigree, whether it be the standard fourth generation or more. It will provide provisions for adequate care of the bitch under their care and also possibilities of return service within a certain number of days, which is usually around sixty to seventy days if conception does not occur.

Puppy sharing agreements can also be stated in the contract wherein a puppy from the litter may be given as part of the payment. Other preconditions such as health and pedigree protection actions are also covered, such as the segregation of the bitch from other dog contact during the duration of the mating period.

These are some important things you should know about when hiring a bulldog stud service. More items will definitely need to be covered and this can be done with more research either by internet or your dealings with other breeders for their recommendations.
