Shopping For Horse Riding Products

By Angela Briggs

Equestrian sports have never been so popular. Each year more and more people join the ranks of riders. Some are only interested in taking a peaceful trail ride on weekends, whilst others are very determined competitors who are out at a show every weekend. However much time someone spends at the barn they will need at least some basic horse riding products to keep them safe and comfortable.

On line shopping is one of the best ways to compare prices. When a rider is searching for a particular product they can go to several different on line stores and see which is offering the best deal. Factors such as shipping costs must also be taken into consideration. There are regular offers that provide free shipping on orders over a certain amount. It may be worth waiting to place a large order and make the most of this type of deal.

Many barns and riding establishments provide helmets for their clients. It is not always a good idea to use them simply because the client does not know if they have been involved in an accident or collision. Riding helmets can have hairline cracks that compromise their strength. Having a helmet of their own is the best and safest idea.

Just about every company today has a web site. This is a great way to look at all the products and see which are the best fit for a particular need. For example riders in the cold northern states will need to get kitted out with plenty of warm clothing. There are some excellent winter jackets that are custom designed for riding. They have back vents to cover the saddle and sewn in reflectors for extra safety.

The two main forms of equestrian activities are English and Western. Each style has its own distinctive types of saddles and bridles, the horses are presented in different ways and the riders are attired in very different styles. English riding is a lot more formal. It is based on the traditional wear of many hundreds of years of tradition that can still be seen in the clothing today.

Western riders are usually more casually attired. They typically wear jeans and comfortable shirts. In recent years some really nice riding shirts have hit the market. They are much like a stylish polo shirt and are available in some really great colors for the ladies. Most men like to stick with the plain blue or green. The shirts are affordable and easy to wash. Some are now being made with stain guard to keep them looking good for longer.

Boots are also considered an essential item for riders. A well made boot with a good heel will prevent the foot from slipping through the stirrup. Most boots are made from black or brown leather and should be polished regularly to keep them in shape.

There is an outstanding range of good quality horse riding products to fit all shapes and sizes. Budget is also an important consideration and there are some well made but affordable clothing to meet the needs of beginners as well as those who do not want to spend too much.
