Find Cavachon Puppies For Sale In MN

By Eliza Mendoza

Mix a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon Frise, and you get Cavachon puppies for sale in MN. This adorable little dog is a great pet for families, seniors, apartment dwellers, even RV travelers. One word of warning, if not on your lap, expect your little Cavachon to be underfoot. If you work long hours and can't take your dog with you, this isn't the dog for you (unless you can provide a dog walker or doggy day care).

With a hybrid, temperament can be any combination of traits belonging to the cross breeds. Since both the Cavalier and the Bichon are friendly, sociable, gentle, intelligent little dogs, you really can't go wrong. Cavachons are playful, eager to please, good with kids and other pets. Some have a skittish nature and prefer to come to you. This isn't the pet for you if you work long hours leaving your pet alone in an empty house.

Cavachons weigh up to 18 pounds. They live up to 12 years. They can be any combination of colors from both mom and dad. Most are bi-color or tri-color. Most common are combinations with brown, sable, tan, and/or white. Most have stunning large, round, dark eyes. Most have large and floppy ears.

Cavachons love playtime, and they love lap time. They also love adventure; travel, walks, dog parks, and car rides. They tolerate heat but most prefer a romp in the snow. Most aren't yappy so they fit well into apartment life. This breed is great choice for at home seniors. They can be exercised in small spaces with toys and games and/or short walks. The only con is that like many a small dog, housebreaking requires patience.

When researching breeders ask if the parent dogs are AKC registered. Ask about a health guarantee. Puppies should be vet checked, inoculated, and de-wormed before they move to their new home. Well socialized puppies will start life in a home, not a kennel. If possible, visit the breeder and ask to see the parent dogs as well as the puppies.

Your designer dog can inherit any of the genetic diseases common to the parent breeds. These include flea dermatitis, skin allergies, ear infections. Heart murmurs, cataracts, hip dysplasia, and patella luxation. Don't rely on hybrid vigor. Ask for the health history of both parent dogs.

You'll need a professional groomer to keep your dogs thick and wavy hair looking beautiful. A puppy cut every six to eight weeks is a favorite choice. In between cuts, regular brushing keeps the coat shiny and free of tangles.

There is quite a bit of controversy in the dog world regarding hybrids, also called designer dogs. The breeds we know today were once hybrids bred by humans over the centuries to become the specialized breeds they are today. Cavachons can be registered with the American Canine Hybrid Club if they are a first generation cross, i. E. Neither parent was a Cavachon.

Breeders try to place puppies in forever homes. That's why they ask about family members, kids, other pets, work, living quarters, and lifestyle. If you want a sweet, friendly, sociable little dog that will follow you everywhere, you might want to take a look at Cavachon puppies for sale in MN. Your puppy will need your devotion and attention for the next 12 years. This is not an independent breed that enjoys alone time.
