What You Should Know Before Buying Egyptian Mau Kittens For Sale

By Marci Glover

In looking for a new pet, you may have come across many signs and adverts. You may have seen an Egyptian Mau kittens for sale sign and have become intrigued. In fact now you have considered buying a cute kitten for yourself or for someone who loves cats. In either case this article will give you some information on these cute and furry creatures.

The Egyptian Mau is one of the rare breeds of domesticated felines as it has naturally occurring spots making it look like a small spotted lynx or gray leopard. This little feline is probably the fastest of all domesticated breeds running as fast as thirty miles per hour compared to the cheetah speed of sixty miles per hour. When buying this breed, it will be like buying a miniature cheetah to play and take care of.

Should you decide on this breed make sure that it has plenty of space to climb and jump around in. Many say that these cats have springs for legs and can get rowdy and rambunctious at times. Make sure your house does not have plenty of things that can easily be knocked down or over. Expect that this kind of behavior will increase as years go by.

This breed is very adaptable and can fit in any home, as long as it is a loving and caring home. The breed craves a lot of attention so must be socialized with as early as possible when they are still kittens. This socializing early has its advantages as it prevents them from being too jumpy around people or sudden noises, especially during competitive shows or lengthy travels. Also this breed is very fond of making friends with anyone, even with people who do not like cats at all.

As these cats love to eat, they should not be overfed. Many people equate giving food as giving love, when all it really needs are hugs and cuddles. When they get used to a eating a lot, it will be very difficult to cut back on amounts as the cat will have a sort of hunger strike until the proper amount of food is given.

Believe it or nor this cat can actually sing. When it is in a particularly good or happy mood it will chortle and chirp just like a small bird. It will also do this when it is curious about something, like an insect for example, which all cats love to play with.

An active male and female pair can easily produce you two litters per year. This is despite the fact that these felines have the longest gestation periods of sixty three to seventy days as compared to other cat breeds. One should not worry however when females are a bit overdue in delivering for they can still delivery a healthy litter.

We have just covered some very salient and important background information on the Egyptian Mau. If you are really intent and decided on getting a kitten, it is still highly advisable and recommended that you do further research. Research should include further data and information on proper upkeep, hygiene and diet and nutrition.
