Reasons To Favor Dog Boarding Over Kennels

By Annabelle Holman

Dogs are one of the most beloved domesticated animals. For years people and dogs have always shared that special bond. Canines help people in a lot of ways. They are expert guardians, they keep watch over the sheep in the olden times, and they watch over homes at present. They cheer one up. It is always said that one of the truest forms of happiness comes with a wet nose and a wagging tail, and dog lovers could not help but agree.

For this reason, most dog lovers do not even regard their pooches as pets. They see them as family. They really spend time, money, and effort just to make sure that they get food, water, and safe environment to live in. They bring their furry pals on vacations, or leave them in the care of apt professionals at dog boarding dc.

A dog boarding service involves two things. You can either leave your dog to a camp or special boarding, allowing him to meet other dogs. Most owners do not really warm up to the idea as they are afraid that their pet might not be able to adjust accordingly and could just be left feeling stressed the whole time the family is away. They are also afraid their little dog might contact some form of disease from other canines sharing the same facility.

In the past years, people used to leave their loved ones in a kennel. Here, dogs are placed in pens and are locked up all day, allowing only a few hours of exercise. Dogs also interact with other dogs, only sometimes these encounters do not fare well. This led to the development of dog boardings, which are very far off from kennels.

There are many benefits to leaving your pet to a fellow canine obsessed human who is sure to take care of it. For starters, you will feel more at ease. You have left your buddy in the care of someone who has experience working with dogs.

A kennel does not tell you anything while you are out, but a sitter will. In fact, she will give you updates from time to time. She can even send you photos and videos of your pooch having fun or resting, if you really want to.

Entrusting your pup to a sitter also means that he gets undivided attention. In a kennel, one professional is tasked to take care of about twenty dogs at a time, which means he cannot tend to each dog to ensure their well being. Issues with your pooch will not be addressed right away, and can lead to even bigger problems.

Kennels do not allow for much exercise. This could be one of the many reasons why dogs hate these places, especially those who are used to walking around freely. Making him stay at a boarding facility will give him all the exercise and play he can get.

Finally, the best plan of action is to still bring your pooch along when you travel. You already know each other quite well, so the dog does not have to adapt to anything major. However, if there is absolutely no way to bring him along, a boarding can take care of him as much as you do.
