Why It Is Recommended To Use Flea Control Boric Acid

By Coleen Torres

Boric acid is used to control fleas in homes. It is not expensive and contains very low level of toxins. It may be in powder form having other ingredients such as borate, sodium borate and Orthoboric acid. This acid acts as herbicide, insecticide and fungicide and cause dessication, removes moisture from fleas thus leaving them to die out of dehydration.Borate is normally odorless so when fleas go back to the treated places constantly, hey will eventually die. Therefore flea powders which have borate are somewhat safe to be used to get rid of fleas from your home without the risk of toxins of other pesticides or even their smell. So how can one use flea control boric acid to kill fleas at home?

One may benefit a lot from using this acid as treatment for fleas. Before one starts to use the chemical, one should clear the entire treatment area of anything to which damage may be impacted. Be it items of clothing, kennel bedding and base rugs. The baseboards and cabinet bottoms should also be cleaned as well. Pets and little children should also be evacuated or barred from going into the work area.

Before applying the powder on the baseboards, the applicant should shake well the canister bearing the fleas. After such, one should apply it in the closet and subsequently in the lower of the cabinet. Crevices must be checked to ensure they have the powder and that little or no powder remains on top of the surface. If little chemical is on the surface, it should be vacuumed.

In houses with carpets and covered floors, a light coating of borate should be applied. The canister is well shaken, in sideways motion. Areas where a pet likes to lay or stay or lives should be prioritized when administering proper treatment of the same. The applicant should brush the powder very deep into the fibre of the mat using spiky brushes or push brooms or even where possible, use stiff powder until a point where no substance is seen.

This chemical is to be applied at the joints and junctions of furniture as well as their bottoms where fleas may have hostage. A hand broom may best serve the function. In cases where there are cushions and pillows, they should always be removed and the underneath of their cover be treated as well.

Get rid of the vacuum bag by putting it in a garbage container that is outside the house. In case there is a dust cup that is removable on your vacuum, dispose the contents into food storage bag and place it in the garbage outside sealed. The vacuuming routine ought to be resumed after 24 hours of applying the flea powder.

Boric remains the most effective chemical ever developed to control fleas. These insects survive on the blood they get from their hosts mostly animals and pet such as dogs and cat. They also feast on human blood.

One may not doubt that even just small amounts of the acid can be very effective since the concentration of the powdery substance and its potency remain almost the same in all proportions. It is less harmful to pets despite it being very toxic to fleas. In human beings, it is just slightly more toxic than table salt. However, it is essential that caution be taken when it is being used near children and pets.
