Making Your Own All Natural Dog Treats NY

By Della Monroe

A lot of people are very conscious of harmful chemicals and other additives in their food today. Many are making a change in how they purchase and prepare meals for their household including their pets. Offering All Natural Dog Treats NY is a sure way to keep the canine in your home healthier and happy.

It does not take a lot of effort to put together some of the recipes you will find on the internet. Try trading goodies and baking hints with other pet owners. Start a baking club and swap pet cookie bags during the holidays instead of the traditional type of cookie swap.

One thing to remember when preparing these little morsels of deliciousness is that Fido might be allergic to one of the ingredients. A suggestion is instead of making up an entire batch then learning you cannot use it, just make a half batch and see if your pet shows any distress or simply loves it.

Another type of healthy snack or reward for your pet are regular organic vegetables and fruits. Most dogs love carrots, especially the baby size. Green beans and broccoli are two other favorites of most canines. If you give them fruit, you will need to experiment with different types. One food that it seems all canines love is peanut butter. However, there are certain foods to never give your animal, these are anything containing apple seeds, grapes, raisins, onions, and chocolate or anything with caffeine.

Raw bones are also good for them and something they love. Always make it a raw bone and never cooked ones. It does not matter if they are boiled, baked, or steamed. Cooked bones tend to splinter and in turn cause internal damage to the animal which can result in extreme pain, sever complications, or death. So please remember, feed them only raw bones.

There are two classifications of bones to give to your animal. The first one is for them to actually eat. These are chicken and turkey necks and wings. The reason is they are chewable so there is no splintering. Plus they have calcium, phosphorus, and trace minerals all of which contribute to a healthy diet.

Other bones to give your animal should be bigger than their head, to prevent their breaking, which cause splintering, or swallowing and choking on pieces. The hip or femur bone of bison or beef is a good choice. The act of gnawing, will mentally stimulate your animal plus do the same thing a good flossing and brushing will accomplish. So you get a happy dog that has good oral health.

Another condition you might need to prepare for is if your dog is predisposed to pancreatitis. If this is the case, then remove any marrow from the bone before giving it to them. The fat from the marrow can cause diarrhea or a flair up.

Also, never ever give them pork or rib bones as they will also splinter and cause damage. You can find what you need at either the meat counter or a butcher shop. Just ask for soup bones. Store them in a freezer until ready to use. Also, if you have more than one pet in the house, they may fight over the bones so keep them apart. In addition, be close by just in case they do break one and start to swallow the pieces.
