Information On Balinese Kittens For Sale

By Melissa Long

The Balinese is a domestic cat breed whose body is covered with long hair and has point coloration similar to Siamese. It is also called purebred long-haired Siamese since it mutated from the Siamese breed. Essentially, it is a Siamese with only differences being in the silky long-haired coat and plumed tail. Someone who wants to buy Balinese kittens for sale should find this information useful.

There is a lot of similarity between Balinese and Siamese in all other ways. For example, their heads triangular or wedge-shaped, eyes are blue, they have striking color points, and the ears are large. They are the same size as Siamese and the body is masculine. The striking resemblance resulted from mutation and interbreeding of Siamese. Otherwise, the cats are the same but wear different coats and have neat oval paws.

Bali, the Indonesian Island and the name Balinese have no relationship at all. The cat was developed because breeders wanted to reveal the recessive long hair trait that was in Siamese. The initial name, long-haired Siamese was very long and was therefore dropped in favor of a shorter one. The current name was given in reference to Balinese dancers. Today, evolution has allowed the cat to have two separate varieties depending on physical type.

The characteristics of the coat include being silky, soft, and medium in length. However, there are observable differences in coat length among individuals. There is no fluffy undercoat that is usually found in other breeds with long hair. Eye color varies between violet and blue while the intensity of the eye color varies with the age and the diet the cat is fed on.

Kittens are born pure white or cream and start developing visible points in parts of their body that are colder gradually. These include paws, tail, ears, and face. By the time they reach the age of four weeks, the color is usually identifiable. Color of the coat tends to darken more with age. Those that live in regions with warm climate have lighter coats compared to those in colder regions.

Cat fanciers all over the world accept the cat in four major colors, seal, chocolate, blue, and lilac. Javanese is a classification for all other cats with different colors including, cream point, red, lynx point, and tortoiseshell. There is no relationship between the Indonesian island Java and the name Javanese.

Like its ancestor Siamese, this breed exhibits a high level of playfulness, intelligence, and sociability. It is usually interested in activities going on around it and prefers vocalizing in a lower voice. Among all breeds with long hair, this cat is considered to be the most intelligent. They love human company so much and they feel happy when in company of their owner.

Comparatively, the cat has been found to cause less trouble to individuals with allergies than other breeds. This is because the level of Fel d1 and Fel d4 they produce is lower. The hypoallergenic quality is under thorough study by clubs and breeders to determine if it exists.
