What You Need To Know About Ragdoll Kittens

By Sarah Foster

Many individuals consider themselves animal lovers and because of their fondness for animals, they opt to have them as pets. While most would prefer domestic pets such as cats and dogs, there are also those who are more inclined to having exotic ones such as scorpions, tarantulas, or snakes. But whatever it may be, it cannot be denied that the love and company pets bring is very satisfying.

Cat lovers are fond of adopting or purchasing different kinds of cats and there really is no wonder why. One of the most popular feline is the North Carolina ragdoll kittens which can be described as large, pretty, and sociable. If you are considering getting one, listed below are some things you might want to know about them.

They earned their name because they go limp when you hold them, just like floppy rag dolls. Such is because they love being held and appreciate companionship so much. Ragdolls are known to be very lovable and are more likely to be lap cats compared to other breeds.

Such felines are also relatively new breeds. This is because they were bred in the 1960s by Ann Baker with its popular color painted coat. And although many theories have been formulated with regards their origins, the most common is that they were bred from Persian, Birman, and Burmese genes.

They are very well known for their color pointed coat as well as bright blue eyes, although such may also come in other color varieties. As time passed, however, there have been several other shades as well as markings that these cats have possessed. Naturally, they are pale and their coats grow darker as they grow old.

Ragdolls are likewise one of the biggest types of feline there is. Male cats can measure 15 to 20 pounds, while female cats may reach as such between 10 to 15 pounds. This data makes them bigger and heavier compared to other cats, for example, the Maine Coon or Norweigan Forest Cat.

Such kittens have also been known to be quiet which is why many also prefer to have them as pet. If you live in an apartment building, theyre very ideal as they will not make so much noise which can disturb others. But such can also be a disadvantage as you will not be able to know if they are in pain or distressed which means you need to become more careful with them.

Raggies are also very commonly nicknamed the dogs of felines because they tend to act like normal dogs sometimes, instead of cats. They will like to follow you around and cuddle or sleep with you and may sometimes even play fetch. They also like carrying toys and other knacks around, just like dogs.

If you wish to have an independent pet or one that would do its own thing while you do yours, then ragdolls are not for you. Such is because they would need and demand for a lot of attention and affection and would not stop until they get it. These kittens are the type that you would want to show so much love to because you will definitely feel them give it back to you.
