How To Find Miniature Australian Shepherd Puppies For Sale

By Donald Bell

If you are looking for a fun and energetic companion you might want to think about a miniature Australian shepherd or "mini Aussie" as their fans call them. There is a lot to learn about these entertaining and dedicated little canines. Here is what you need to know about the breed in general and how to find miniature Australian shepherd puppies for sale once you know this is the right breed for your home.

Miniature Australian shepherds are much like their larger counterparts. "Aussies" were bred to herd animals such as sheep and have a strong desire to work and be active. If you are someone who wants a calmer, more sedentary dog you may want to look at a different breed instead. If, however, you like the idea of a companion who is always ready to run and play, this is a fantastic dog breed to keep in mind.

Unlike some dog breeds, mini Aussies are not hard to find. A number of breeders are beginning to see the appeal of these dynamic little canines and are offering pups for sale. If you want to speak to breeders about their dogs and maybe see one or more of them in action there are several ways that you can find their contact information.

You might want to try and find someone you know who has a mini Aussie. You can interact with their dog and see whether you like its looks and personality. If you still think the breed might be one you are interested in you can always ask them where they got their dog and whether they would get another pup from the same breeder again.

You can also find breeders online as well. If you are working off of websites you will want to be a bit cautious. If you can, visit the breeder at their home and inspect the place where the pups are being born and raised. Make sure it is clean and that the pups are healthy and well-socialized.

As with any kind of dog, it is important to work with a reputable breeder who really cares about their dogs. You should ask them where the dogs were raised, whether there are any genetic health issues that you should be aware of and what they do with pups that have chronic health conditions. Reputable breeders will also not force a female to have a large number of litters in any given time period.

These dogs are available in the same range of different coat colors as full sized Aussies. If you like the look of a particular coat color and want it for your pup you may need to search around as not every breeder has all coat colors available. Some particular coat colors are considered more desirable and you may end up paying more for that kind of pup.

Being separated from litter mates and brought home is a huge adjustment for any puppy. If you want to make the process smoother you will want to think about trying to get a piece of cloth, such as a blanket, that smells like the other pups. Getting some of the food that your pup is used to eating can also help ease the transition and keep your new dog from getting an upset tummy.
