These dogs are appealing to many people and families alike, so it would make sense for them to be brought into loving homes. A coat of fur comes in one of three colors - yellow, chocolate, and black - and this is determined by way of genetics. Eumelanin and pheomelanin, for those that don't know, are the pigments responsible for a puppy's outward appearance at birth. This is just one of the many things to know regarding Labradors.

Despite their large size, Labrador Retrievers are surprisingly calm. They are good around people, ranging from small children to elderly adults, and it's unlike them to snap at other animals. In simplest terms, a Labrador will be able to acclimate him or herself to any social situation. For pet owners that are concerned about the temperaments that animals have, these particular dogs will be nothing short of easygoing.

Labrador Retrievers are versatile, able to be used in a number of ways. They make for effective therapy dogs, helping people cope with stress, loss, and other problems that are experienced in life. However, Labradors have been used for search and rescue, due to the keen senses that they possess. These are just a few of the uses that they have, not only as pets with useful animals in general.
