The Understanding Of A Hypoallergenic Cat

By Steven Wright

There is much that has been said about cats, even how they are believed to have mystic powers. However, most of that is mythical and one of the things that have puzzled researchers and professors is how this wonderful animal that is dearest to man is able of causing him harm? Among the common symptoms observed from people, who have been around cats include itching along the respiratory tract, sneezing, and nasal congestion. This are called allergic reactions; though, some types of cats are believed to cause no such effects. A good example is hypoallergenic cat.

These allergic reactions are mainly attributed to a protein component called felius domesticus allergen 1 found under the tongue. It is carried on the saliva and deposited on the fur and dries to form flakes. The flakes may break and fall on the sofa, carpet, and air where they come into contact with the body or are inhaled. The amount level of effect is reliant on various factors, which all cat owners should carefully consider.

In controlling the factors in order to avoid the aftermath if the allergies, there is need to evaluate the immune system. It is the part of the body that protects it from pathogens, which aim at causing harm. The level of it varies from one person to another. A sensitive cat owner to allergies should try to increase his immunity by using medicine to a level that it can protect him from the pathogen.

Observing cleanliness has been found to play a role. Both the pet and house have to be clean regularly to reduce the amount of flakes deposited. If not, then it would accumulate; hence, increasing chances of an allergic reaction. You need to wash all the clothes or places that the cat has come in contact with and purify the air to improve the quality of air.

If you are aware of your sensitive situation, then try as much as possible to limit the time spent with the pet. Doing contrary of this, the allergens in your body can increase; hence, high chances of getting a reaction. In addition, the cat should be prevented from certain places such as the bedroom and especially the bed in order to reduce the risks.

Cat dander is fur old that comes off. It is a common phenomenon that gives rise to new fur and happens to all warm blooded animals except in some. Some cats naturally have more fur; therefore, they shed more fur. Hence, more of the fel d1 falls to the carpet, sofas, and any other place in the house that you use. Thus, if you are sensitive to such, try to have a pet, which sheds less fur so that allergies are less likely to occur.

The genetic components of a particular cat affect the reaction. It is possible to find a cat that produces less amount of saliva and also lesser of the fel d1 protein. This simply means that the allergens will be secreted, but at small quantities; thus, little reaction. However, if the proteins find a direct entry into the bloodstream, then slight allergies may be experienced.

To put all the above in a nutshell, the choice of cat should be through a careful evaluation of the above factors and you are likely to get an animal that fits your preferences.
