Egyptian Mau cats are some of the oldest breeds of cats in existence today. There are speculations that they date back to ancient Egypt, but there is no tangible proof yet. These cats have been domesticated for a very long time, but they still retain many characteristics from their ancestors. It is these spectacular characteristics that make this breed preferable by many people. Here is useful information about Egyptian Mau for sale.

There have spotted coat on one or several colors. Bronze, silver or pale silver is the color of their coats. Gooseberry-green is the color for their large eyes. They have a wedge like head and their ears are of medium size. Because of their physical shape and appearance, makes them to be muscular in nature.

Maus have longer hind legs compared to the front legs. This makes them appear like they are standing on tiptoes. The length of the tail is medium and has a thick base. They are the fastest of all domestic cats, and this is hugely attributed to the layer of skin that runs from the flank to the hind legs. This layer of skin allows the cat a lot of flexibility during motion.

A medium-sized silky, fine textured coat is normally found on the portions of the body which are smoke colored. There is a dense and resilient texture on parts that have a bronze and silver color. The spots vary a lot in size and they may range from very big to very small. The spots are randomly placed. One of the distinctive features is that the tails end with dark tips.

Besides the smoke, bronze, and silver colors, the coat in some cats may also be blue silver, blue smoke, solid black, solid blue, and blue spotted. These additional colors are however not permitted in cat shows. Nevertheless, cats with these colors make good pets and possess all the characteristics of Egyptian Maus.

The Mau cats have several care and maintenance like combing the coat on weekly basis. This is done with the sole purpose of removing dead hair from the coat. Bathing can also be done in extreme cases though it is not necessary. This breed of cats is susceptible to periodontal disease and regular cleaning of the teeth is advised. This should be done on a regular basis. Nails are also supposed to be clipped.

The eyes need to be wiped with a clean piece of cloth to remove dirt. When cleaning the eyes, a separate area of the piece of cloth should be used on each eye. This is meant to prevent the possibility of spreading infections from one eye to the other. The ears should also be cleaned on a weekly basis using a soft piece of cloth.

An individual should use warm water when cleaning the ears. Efficiency is increased whenever cider vinegar is added in warm water. Damage can be caused whenever cotton is used in cleaning of the ears. It is therefore not advisable to use cotton. At all times, the litter box for the cats should remain clean.
