By Elizabeth Smith

There are increased horse activities as people take advantage of the sunny weather. Using a horse requires one must be a good rider failure to which one risks putting their lives in danger. Dressage training is hence important to give one the essential riding skills required. The following are some of the characteristics one can look for in a good instructor.

Being concerned with individual goals and needs of the learners is a quality that a trainer must have. This is because everyone has a different personality and different reasons for which they joined the program. Teaching them as a general class may risk compromising the needs of some of the students. It is hence important to focus on each one of them as an individual.

Relating well with the learners helps them to respect you as a trainer, and as a result, they can focus on your instructions. When a learner is not happy with the way his teacher treats him, he will not be in a position to enjoy any class no matter how exciting it is to his mates. The trainer should be able to enhance a good relationship by appreciating each trainee and being friendly to them.

The whole training process mainly involves communication. The trainer is always sending a message to the trainees on horse riding tips. He is also taking questions from them and hearing matters affecting the lessons that are being raised. Having the ability to talk to them and to listen too is hence essential. The better the skills, the faster the concept is understood.

Flexibility will allow you to use different techniques on the same schedule. Students have different characters, and while some may be vibrant, others are just quiet and do not fancy a lot of excitement. Some are moodier than others too. As a trainer, you should be able to teach the same thing using different techniques depending on the mood and character of the learners.

In horse riding classes, patience is a virtue that every trainer should have. Students have different trainee have different levels of understanding and in case of beginners, repeating the same thing for many times should be expected. Expecting your students to be perfect in a short time might make you disappointed as it rarely happens. Each step requires enough time to be fully mastered.

Learners are human beings and human beings easily give up especially in the areas they do not seem to be doing up to their expectations. When learners feel that they are not doing well enough, they might lose their interest in the lessons, and it is up to the instructor to bring them back. This requires excellent motivational skills that guide you on what to tell them to lift their spirits.

Finally, it is essential for one to be curious to know more for one to be a good trainer. Researching and reading horse riding magazines helps one to get information of what is happening in the field. Joining social platforms of fellow trainers is also a good way to learn as ideas are shared, and sometimes corrections are made, and this helps in enhancing careers.
