Things To Know About Ragdoll Kittens TICA Registered

By Janet Hill

Ragdolls are one of the prettiest and best natured of all the domestic cat breeds. Like their name they can be easily carried around like toys. They tend to be more playful when young and become very laidback as they mature. If you are intending to show your cat or want to ensure your breeder is reputable then you need to look for Ragdoll kittens TICA registered.

The International Cat Association as its name suggests is recognized worldwide as a registry of pedigree felines. It supports and runs shows worldwide and promotes responsible breeding and ownership. The association also reaches out into communities to provide education on neutering and good pet husbandry as well as many other valuable programs to benefit cat owners and their pets.

Breeder who take the time to register their animals with a reputable association like TICA will normally be well respected and breed healthy cats. If they are breeding pedigree cats they should conform to the standard for that breed. Even if the kitten is not breed standard, they cab still be shown in the domestic classes and win prizes.

There are ten colors and three patterns to select from so you are certain to find a kitten that you fall in love with. Regardless of whether you select colorpoint, bicolor or mitted the coat will be silky and soft to touch. Although they are semi longhaired, shedding occurs just twice a year which makes them quite low maintenance. Just like humans though they like daily grooming to keep them in top condition.

The color palette is so varied it covers almost every hue found in the feline world. Regardless of the color of their coat, their eyes should be the bright blue like forget-me-knots; the eyes being a distinctive feature of the breed. The combination of the beautiful eyes, soft coat and lovely markings makes this about the prettiest cat ever.

Another key feature of this gentle giant is its size. Toms will mature to a massive 20lbs with queens not far behind at 15lb. Despite their size, ragdolls are friendly with other pets and family members. They are happy to live with dogs, kids and other cats.

While Ragdolls have a reputation for being so laidback they can be dressed in dolly clothes, it is worth remembering they are still an animal. They need to be treated kindly and children should not be encouraged to use them like toys. They are, if distantly, related to lions and retain the ability to scratch and bite.

Your breeder is a wealth of knowledge so if you have not owned this wonderful breed before then take their advice regarding feeding, grooming and training. They will be pleased to answer questions and make sure you have all the information you need. If you do not intend to breed you should consult your local veterinarian about neutering or spaying so that you do not accidently have a litter of unwanted kittens.
