The world of choosing a pet can be overwhelming and full of daunting decisions. Land or water? Caged or free? Hairy or scaly? One of the largest factors in pet selection is the age of the pet owner. Although it is ultimately up to personal preference, some pets may be more suitable for a certain age group than others.
Young children are often initially overwhelmingly excited about owning their first pet. It's like a whirlwind romance — complete with a giddy courtship that levels off into a general liking or, unfortunately, a slow disdain. But children this age don't understand the long-term commitment involved in owning a pet.
