By Matt McGrath

Puppies are so adorable; everybody loves them. They are cuddly, fun, playful and curious and we tend to love every part of having a new puppy until they do their duty in the house and then we have to deal with the biggest problem and difficulty of having a new puppy, puppy house training.

You will need to work closely with and have patience with your new puppy when it comes to housetraining. A puppy is still just a baby and a puppy does not have the comprehension level yet to know what you want him to do. It will be easier to finish your puppy house training if you are patient and loving with your puppy. Even though it is disappointing when your puppy goes potty in the house if you are impatient and express your disappointment your puppy housetraining will take more time.

A young puppy that is less than 15 weeks of age might need to go outside as often as 2-3 times per hour. A puppy that is frolicking hard will also need to go out more often because playing creates urine. Remember that your puppy is still not able to control himself so any accidents at this stage are not his fault but rather your fault for not getting him out to potty more often.

The crucial thing to remember when you are potty training your puppy is to be consistent. Make sure and use a leash and take him to the same designated spot every time. Use consistent commands such as "potty now" and repeat the commands as necessary. Consistency is what it crucial when it comes to puppy house training.

As you are housetraining your puppy you will need to make sure that the experience is as positive as can be for your puppy. If he ever has any fear of your reactions or if he ever feels fear that he is doing it wrong your house training efforts will take longer. Your puppy wants to please you and if he does not know how to do that it will take longer for him to learn about potty training.

Using a crate will help you in your puppy house training when have to leave your puppy at home. Dogs naturally try to keep their own space clean so a crate will help your puppy to learn how to control himself. Dogs are also natural den animals so they enjoy having a small home of their own.

Consistency is the most important part of puppy house training. Make sure that you use a consistent command and take him to the same place every outing so that there is no confusion on his part. Making the experience a positive one for him will also help him to learn faster and you will be done with your puppy house training sooner.

Puppy house training is the most important aspect of owning a new puppy and you can train your puppy in just a few short weeks if you are consistent and positive about the training. You will then be able to enjoy your puppy more as he grows and you will never have to concern yourself with accidents in the house again.
