Stop Retriever Barking

Retrievers are naturally inclined to barking though sometimes this can be uncalled for and excessive. I'm assuming that you have just about had enough with the problem of Dogs barking in your home and now you have decided to deal with this problem. Dogs are still barking today as they have been doing for thousands of years despite the training and inbreeding and refinement that man has done. Barking is the best way dogs have of vocalizing and expressing their emotions. Basenji is the only dog specie that does not bark and most others are going to bark instinctively.

Before trying so find ways to stop golden retriever barking you must fist figure out why dogs bark and the different forms of dog barking that are present. When you know why your problem is behaving in the manner in which it is then you set out to find a solution for the problem.

Why Dogs Bark

Retrievers bark for a variety of reasons. In order to have the capability to deal with your dogs barking you need to know the reason why it is barking and there are various why this might be happening.Here are some causes of dog barking.

Alarm Barking,Territorial Barking,Greeting Barking,Injury or illness barking,Compulsive barking,Frustration Barking

The aim is not to stop your retriever from barking all together which is impossible.For dogs, barking is an integral part of their whole persona. No matter what levels you go to you cannot completely stop barking as that's how dogs express themselves but you can reduce it. How to stop Barking

Determine the reasons for your dogs barking and then figure out whether it is just normal barking or there is something wrong going on.Some questions to consider.

When Does the Dog Bark? What is the retriever barking at? Does the Dog have a specific trigger?

For those dogs protecting themselves stopping them from barking is very difficult. Trying to stop an alarmed dog is just as difficult. This type of negative reinforcement for territorial barking often leads to dog aggression and some other behavior problems. Your dog will not understand what you are trying to tell it and why you are doing it. Establish conditions in which your dog does not feel the need to defend its territory. Become the 'alpha leader' of the pack sort of speak. if you have a strong hold on your household your dog will know you are in charge not itself. Make sure you limit the ability your dog has of seeing intruders. Close the windows and the blinds so that your dog cannot see people like the mailman, newspaper boy or even the milkman if you have one. Retriever Anxiety Barking

If your dog is barking because of anxiety then there might be an underlying problem. It is most likely that your dog is reaching out to you and may continuously bark if you leave until the time you return. If for instance you used to lavish your dog with attention when you returned then this might be because of that. A way to remedy this is not to give your dog such attention for a while as soon as you comeback so that your return is not linked to the reception of attention.

Dog obedience training also helps to control the barking as you and your retriever will have sort of a common language and thus you can instruct it to stop , be quiet and the like. These should help limit all the unnecessary and unwarranted barking issues. This training can help your dog so that it does not bark unnecessarily.

Your Golden Retriever does not have to become hated by the neighbors because it is keeping them awake at night. Educate yourself on how to deal with these issues so that you don't have people clobbering your door in order to complain about your retriever.
