Article From SubmitYOURArticle.com: How To Prepare For Your Vacation

Vacations are meant for people to relax, unwind
and leave their responsibilities behind.
Unfortunately, once you are an adult, it takes a
lot of preparation to accomplish each of these
things. You have to ensure your home is safe,
your pets are cared for and your work life is
able to be put on hold, or at least function
without you present for the days you are away. If
you are a pet owner, contact dog boarding Seattle
or dog boarding Everett to make arrangements for
the staff to care for your pet in a safe
environment during your absence. If you are a cat
owner, consider bringing a pet sitter into your
home so you do not have to disturb your cat's
daily routine. Cats are independent and most of
them do not mind being left alone, as long as
someone provides them food and water.

In order to truly relax while you are away, you
have to feel secure about leaving your home.
Contact the post office so you can postpone your
mail delivery while you are away. Some people
prefer to have their house sitter take care of
the mail when taking care of other
responsibilities, but having it all delivered
once you get back is just as easy. This way you
are sure nothing is delivered and lost between
house visits. If you have an alarm system, show
anyone who will be entering your home how to
operate it. When they leave, be sure they reset
the alarm so the house is protected when nobody
is inside.

You might want to do whatever is necessary to
conserve energy while you are away. Set your
thermostat at a rate that will have the furnace
running less, turn the water heater setting down
and use only one light in the house. Consider
setting the lights on timers so there is the
appearance of someone still being home and so the
lights are not running constantly while you are
away.

If you have put in a vacation request at your
place of employment, your supervisor will have
hopefully set things up so things will run
smoothly while you are away. Be sure anything you
have been asked to do is taken care of before you
leave for your trip. Just prior to leaving, check
in with your supervisor and send out an email to
let everyone know that you will be away. If you
are self-employed, notify your clients you will
be unreachable for your time away. You can have
your messages forwarded to your destination, but
to really let go and relax, you need to leave it
all behind.

Finally, do what you can to leave your home
feeling relaxed and confident. Leave yourself
plenty of time to get to the airport so you are
not leaving in a rush. Do a final walk through in
each room so you know everything is in place.
Leave a note for the house or pet sitter and let
a neighbor you trust know you will be away and to
keep an eye out for things. Once you have locked
up, take a minute to run through things in your
mind so you get on the plane feeling confident
everything is secure.
