A Few Guidelines Concerning Proper Schutzhund Puppy Training

By Alexander Wolfe

You should get started with Schutzhund puppy training almost as soon as you bring your new puppy home. When he is still a little puppy, it is the best time in their lives in so far as their future development goes. It is at this young and tender age that the puppy is going to develop their characteristics and so you need to ensure that they develop the right ones and not the wrong ones. If you are not sure about what to do, be sure to get in touch with a local Schutzhund training club.

Such clubs will normally have people there that can provide tips and help on how to train your puppy. Most puppies use their experience in life to learn things. See what a confident, fully trained dog can do in this free Schutzhund training video HERE.

Positive experiences will ensure that your puppy gains confidence but at the same time, you must also not let yourself try to dominate or oppress the puppy in order to teach them new things. The best course of action is to give your puppy a chance to be exposed to various environments as this will help him in gaining some valuable education to show them that life and this world is a safe place for them to live in.

In fact, you need to expose him to as many different environments as is possible as this will give your pup a generalized education and it will help to inculcate in his mind that the world is indeed a safe place to live in. If your pup is exposed to something that causes insecurity or confusion in their minds, you should encourage him to investigate the situation but without trying to force the issue on him.

In addition, be sure to refrain from trying to discipline them or correct their errant behavior too vehemently as this can dampen the puppy's spirits and reduce their confidence levels. So, make sure that you do not leave your puppy alone or allow them to be exposed to any dangers.

Working dog puppies generally behave as naturally as possible and so will want to play with toys and balls and they love playing hide and seek as well. By encouraging such behavior you can make sure that your puppy training endeavors would be rewarding and at the same time it will also ensure that the pup becomes more capable of defending themselves. Ideally, you should start the training process when the puppy is nine months to ten months old.

Once he grows into a young adult, you can then expose him to more formalized training routines.
