A 10 Gallon Fish Tank Is Perfect For A New Aquarium Owner

By Antonio Margheriti

Having a fish is usually the answer to a kid's wish of having a ducky to care for. If it is the first time to ever possess a fish container then, the 10 gallon fish tank is definitely the right choice. Such a tank nearly lengths 20 inches along with a breadth of 12 inches and heaviness that reaches 13 pounds. This leads to the fact that this kind of fish basins brings together a lovely mixture of fishes and flora with a touch of ornament combined with a straining technique.

Acquiring such a tank seems logic enough to be the joy of every member in the family. It also solves the nagging urge among children that each one should have a fish in his own tank which lead to cramming empty spaces all over the house. With such a tank, the phrase "it's mine" will go away.

Though goldfish may be the first choice, they are very messy, need many friends, and require a good deal of room as they grow. Start with fish that are easy to care for like guppies, neon tetras, mollies, or zanno zebras. Add a snail or two small algae fish like otocinclus to the family in order to keep the tank walls clean. Give each child his or her own fish and everyone will live in harmony.

There is no need to fill the tank with those nice looking accessories like large stones or gold chest as they would allow more algae to develop. Also don't fill up the tank with plants; a couple of live plants are more than enough, the more the tank is less occupied the better the view for everyone.

A filter is crucial as some species of fish could die due to low quality water; an air-powered sponge filter is appropriate for a 10 gallon tank and is very good in excluding ammonia. The room temperature is another factor to consider, if the room is a little bit cold you can improve the temperature using a small heater.

Once the 10 gallon fish tank is set up in the home and stocked with a few fish, it will become an entertainment area. Children can feed their fish and spend hours watching the creatures swim and sleep. Adults will love the low maintenance aspect of fish ownership and the fact that these pets do not bark or cry.
