Important Dinosaur Information for Kids

We all watched dinosaurs from movies such as Jurassic Recreation area and King Kong, so how much do you really learn about dinosaur games for kids? Here are some interesting facts about dinosaurs that you can amaze your friends and family along with:

There are a number of candidates for the largest dinosaur, as there are several types of dinosaur that were over 100 toes (30 metres) long. The largest has been certainly some kind of sauropod (a new four-legged plant-eating dinosaur with a long neck of the guitar) that lived through the late Jurassic or early on Cretaceous period.

The word "dinosaur" was coined by There Richard Owen, who additionally founded the Natural History Museum in London, England. "Dinosaur" implies terrible lizard, which is based on the Greek terms "deinos" (terrible) and "sauros" (dinosaur).

People have been finding dinosaur fossils for hundreds of years, yet didn't know what they have been until quite recently. The first time that a dinosaur had been scientifically described was at 1824, by William Buckland.

The earth's continents slowly proceed through a process known as "plate tectonics". Whenever dinosaurs first appeared throughout the Triassic period, all the global continents were joined together in one super-continent known as "Pangea".

Every one of the familiar types of dinosaurs, passed away off at the end of the Cretaceous period. There are many different concepts why this may get happened, but today the most famous theory is that a great asteriod hit the earth, preventing the sunlight so that there was clearly not enough food available. Evidence for this concept is a layer involving iridium, which is believed to have come from the asteroid, has been found worldwide, and a possible effect site found in southeast Mexico.

The smallest identified dinosaur is Compsognathus, which lived in Europe in the late Jurassic, and was ready the size of a hen. Compsognathus is believed to have ingested insects, lizards and other tiny animals.

At the same time that dinosaurs dominated the land, there were several aquatic reptiles that will dominated the ocean, although these were not dinosaur names. These aquatic animals included plesiosaurs, nothosaurs, mosasaurs and ichythosaurs.

Despite the fact that birds seem to have started out dinosaurs, no non-avian flying dinosaurs are known. However, during dinosaurs there were many traveling reptiles, known as pterosaurs.

Dinosaurs first appeared in the Triassic period (248 to 213 million years ago), and were the dominant terrain animals through the entire Jurassic period, and to the end from the Cretaceous period (65 million years ago).

We know with regards to dinosaurs because fossils have been discovered. The fossils, which can be found in sedimentary rocks, such as fossilized body parts (bones, tooth, skin, claws, and so on.), as well as trace fossils ("ichnofossils") which show the way the animals lived, which include footprints, burrows, nests, toothmarks, dung, etc.
